SEO Tips for Wedding Suppliers

If you work in the wedding industry and want to get your website ranking ahead of the competition, then these SEO tips for wedding suppliers are going to help you massively. In this article we will explore what SEO is, what areas you need to think about and tips that you can implement on your pages to make them more visible to your ideal clients.

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the process of optimising your website so that it ranks for keywords that your ideal clients use in the search engines. So for example, if you owned a bridal boutique, you would want your website to appear at the top of a search if a bride were to search for Norfolk Wedding Dress Shop. The wedding industry in the UK is highly competitive and pretty localised, which makes it a challenge when it comes to getting your website seen. These SEO tips for wedding suppliers like you will help you to think a bit differently about your website, and hopefully make it more visible!

Wedding Suppliers operate in really competitive local markets. These SEO tips for wedding suppliers can help your brand stand out from the competition.

seo tips for wedding suppliers - the 5 areas to focus on...

  1. Structure & Performance
  2. Keywords
  3. Content
  4. Domain Authority
  5. Social Proof

1. Structure and performance

The structure of your website should be centred on the needs of your ideal client, not what a website template dictates. A common mistake I see when looking at wedding suppliers websites is that they create their website structure based upon a standard Home/About Us/Services/Contact structure, which doesn’t create an opportunity to address all of the information that your ideal clients need to make an informed decision. With that in mind my first SEO tip for wedding suppliers is… design your structure on the information your ideal client needs to know, the emotion you want them to feel, and the action you want them to take. This is going to make a big difference when it comes to your conversion as well as your SEO.

From a performance perspective you want to ensure your site is fast loading, has no broken links and that you create a quality page experience. If your website is slow and gives a poor user experience, Google will not index the pages, making it much harder to be seen in the search engines.

2: keywords

Matching your website content to what your ideal clients are searching for is fundamental to SEO and getting your website seen. The last thing you want to do is attract people not at all interested in weddings to your website. My best tip for keywords when it comes to SEO for wedding suppliers is to brainstorm the list of questions that are most often asked by your ideal clients, and use these terms as the basis for your keywords.

If you are a local based supplier then make sure you think about local language and references as this will help your website in terms of relevance when Google is assessing your pages.

One of the questions I am often asked is “where do I put my keywords on my website?”. There are techniques for this that will get you improved results (I teach this in my SEO Superstars programme in detail) but as a starter you should look to ensure your keyword phrase is incorporated into:

  • Page Title
  • Page Description
  • Body Content
  • Images/Videos

One thing that every wedding supplier should be doing if you are serious about SEO is to use Google Search Console. This is a free tool from Google that will allow you to see the search queries that you rank for and your page indexing status. It is relatively easy to use and once you start looking you will be hooked on tracking your performance!

When it comes to getting your website ranking, content is king. Google wants to give the best, most relevant and trustworthy answers to a users search term. Only great content can deliver that.

What you should get clear on with every single page of your website is your PVA Glue…

  • Purpose – what is the purpose of this page and content – what are you trying to achieve?
  • Value – what value are you looking to offer your ideal client that separates you from the competition?
  • Action – what action do you want people to take?

If you apply this methodology to every page of your website you will create content that is relevant, meaningful and compelling.

When creating content designed for the wedding industry you want to take time to really focus on the originality and uniqueness of what you do in order to improve your chances of ranking. With so many wedding suppliers competing for a niche set of customers, you will have to work hard to create content that demonstrates you are a brand, rather than just a business. With the rise of ai tools like chatgpt and others, there will be a glut of homogenous content flooding the internet. One of my biggest steers in terms of SEO tips for wedding suppliers is to focus on your unique brand voice and do not be tempted to use too much ai generated content – as it could be more damaging than helpful to your overall visibility.

Wedding Suppliers that focus on original content focussed on their ideal clients see the best results in terms of SEO.

Domain authority refers to the world of links for your website. Now domain authority is not actually a ranking factor, it is a term used by the SEO industry to explain the world of links and their impact on SEO, so let me break it down a bit to what you as a small business owner should be thinking about….

Link building. Getting other websites to link to yours is like getting a vote from another country on Eurovision. It sends a signal to Google that your content is useful and shareable, which will then encourage Google to serve it to more people.

Getting together a link building strategy is my fourth key tip for wedding suppliers – the more you can build a presence online that sees you as an authority, the more Google will show you to your ideal clients searching for vendors just like you.

You want people talking about your brand, and you want them talking about it positively if you want to have an impact on your overall online visibility, not just your SEO. How to get social proof that will benefit your business:

  • Google Reviews
  • Testimonials
  • Case Studies
  • Recommendations

People are more likely to engage with a business and buy from it if they can see that others have had a positive experience – as documented in Search Engine Watch. With this in mind, ensure that you look to capture reviews wherever possible and incorporate into your website to be able to glean the SEO benefits.

Getting your website seen in a crowded online space can feel daunting, and when you don’t see instant results like you do with social media it can be frustrating. However when you think that there are between 3 and 6 billion google searches a day, you could be missing out on a lot of business if you only focus on socials. Hopefully these SEO tips for wedding suppliers have been useful, and you now feel empowered to make decisions for your website that will positively impact your visibility and your ideal clients experience.
