From running a passion project to full scale agency leader...
In 2018 Worsley Creative Services was born as a side hustle. I started the business the same day my Gran was at the end of her life and passed away. It seemed fitting – she would always ask “are you happy dear?” and starting the business that I know would make me happy was a great tribute. She had some brilliant sayings, was sharp as a razor at times and could drink wine better than I can (and that’s saying something!) and I love and miss her dearly. However, I digress, Worsley Creative started out as a side hustle, building friends’ businesses websites, helping hobbyists become established businesses with branding and digital marketing strategies and a small Facebook group helping people to understand SEO.
Fast forward 5 years and the business has evolved massively to now support over 100 brands with their digital marketing strategy and implementation. I am so proud of this journey that I have taken the business on, literally triumphing through adversity. In 2021 I fell off my horse and broke my back. In 2022 I lost my heart horse Romeo and then in early 2023 I lost my Mum to cancer. Carol was the matriarch of our family and a key member of the Worsley Creative team that was so loved and is so missed every single day. This last year has been one of the toughest for me personally, so to have continued to build and grow the brand during this time is something that will always be a source of immense pride. I tell you this so that you can understand my core “why” for Worsley Creative. To be a champion for realness, a beacon of light for those facing adversity and an ambassador for entrepreneurialism that is the complete opposite of “bro marketing“.

My advice for female entrepreneurs
Building a brand doesn’t happen overnight – and it doesn’t happen easily, so I can empathise with you if you are breaking your neck trying to get established in your niche.
I have worked for free; networked like a demon, and consumed content and coaching programmes like they were Haribos.
My brand has been built from establishing myself as the go to for accessible and action orientated advice. I’m straight talking and believe in delighting every customer where possible with tailored programmes and packages which go above and beyond. If you want to establish yourself as a female entrepreneur, be prepared to go on the steepest learning curve – and for it to take much longer than the movies would have you think! It hammers your cash flow, plays havoc with your messaging and sends you into a frenzy. As yesterday’s news about the nation’s favourite sweet still being the good old jelly baby after 150 years, this should tell you that you don’t need to bring out new things all the time. Focus on making your core offering amazing, keep banging the marketing drum and have faith in building your brand. You’ve got this 🙌
